Hello again from South Brazil
« on: May 20, 2020, 10:37:52 PM »
Hello again!

After a long time without posting (really long) I'm back. For those who still don't know me, I'll introduce myself.

My name is Pericles Lopes Gomide Filho (gomidefilho) I am 47 years old I am from Brazil, specifically from Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state with a border with Argentina and Uruguay. (Yes, I'm from that country ruled by a bunch of crazy, corrupt, facists and thieves, but it will pass, I hope). I have been a modelist since 1985, the first plastic model until 2004 when I started to dedicate myself to papermodeling. My area of interest is civil and military aviation on small scales (especially the 1/100 scale, I have more than 300 models on this scale of military airplanes and vehicles), science fiction and possibly one or another model outside the curve. I am a compulsive assembler, I get to build 35 to 45 models in one year, maybe with the COVID 19 crisis it will be more until that year. I'm interested in scratchbuilding (but old school). Ah, I am a history professor with a specialization in political theory, I work as a high-level adviser in a bankers union, one of the largest in my state, I support Gremio Football Porto-Alegrense, I am a barbecue specialist and I hope to post here regularly.  8)

It is.

All I heard was "I am a barbecue specialist"
LOL

Sounds like you build a lot.
I am finding that I build a little bit less each year.
I think its my trouble with repetition.
Some models are too similar.

or, maybe I am just get lazier.

Welcome back.

Well to know a little more about me I am married (in the third marriage) I have two daughters aged 16 and 19, I live in a quiet neighborhood of Porto Alegre, nestled in Morro Santana, a very old granite rock formation, I have three dogs two Shitsu and a Yorkshire. Some pictures of my house and my neighborhood.

For Dave some records of Gaucho Barbecue

In my state, barbecue meat is roasted on metal skewers or on drum, brick or floor fire grills, it is seasoned with coarse salt except for cuts of pork and chicken, being common among cuts of pork. cattle the picanha, a meat close to the file mignon extremely tasty and soft, the emptiness of the rib, the rib itself cut in window or clapboard and the back of the rib that is called maminha.

The drum barbecue is a special event, but the others is in my brick grill. ;)

Very nice. Thank you for all the pictures - I enjoyed them!

The houses and streets look just like South Africa!

But you BBQ's look miles better. You also have decent cuts of meat in Brazil!

We have BBQ built-in at the back area that we put up a few years ago. I'll share some photos - I don't BBQ much but my wife does - she likes doing it and is actually very good it at. So I'm happy!

I like your three light setup.
Those are very expensive lights here in Ontario (Canada).

Your houses and streets look like everywhere else...including here.
I find that a lot, whenever someone posts photos of their neighbourhood.
I guess we expect to see something radically different, but we never do.
Our lives are so much similar around the world than we realize.

I have the same Budweiser glass.

That much meat would cost me a weeks rent here, but it all looks very tasty.
However, I cannot eat salt, so...

This is a beautiful picture:

Back in the day, I used to barbecue a lot, then got lazy and went through a grill stage.

And my son swiped my Budweiser glass like that.  I know I will never see it again
