I have been building wooden ship models since the early 80's and found paper modeling a few years ago.  I am still amazed with what can be accomplished using 2 dimensional paper to construct 3 dimensional models.  A few things stand out about building paper models vs wooden models in my mind.  First is the time it takes to complete a model, wood = years, paper = days.  Second is that with the exception of edge coloring, the finish is already there, and with some skills it can even be changed.  Last is the ability to re-print parts or pages if necessary.  Because of the last item I am more willing to make modifications while building because I know the only thing I will have lost by attempting something other than what the designer had in mind, is some time, paper, and ink.  I do not bring a lot of experience to the forum, but it is comforting to know there is an abundance of experience throughout the forum to provide me with council and advice.

I'm a 75 year old retiree and my other hobby is golf.  I'm at the stage with my golf game where my body does not always want to cooperate, but I still try to get out there and hit the ball a few times a week. It appears as if my body is much more adept to paper modeling than golf at this stage of my life.

I look forward to future exchanges.
